Exquisite Cuisine

On a beach trip with my girlfriends, we met up with several of our guy friends, who that day brought along David. He is a restaurant owner and I work in finance.  He asked me to meet for drinks a few weeks later and we really hit it off. I knew he was the one when I brought him to a family barbecue in Chicago and my whole family loved him right away.

After four years of dating, David asked my father for permission to marry me. With his permission, David held onto the ring for a couple of months until he found the “right moment.” That moment happened to be at a restaurant in Long Island City on the patio in the garden area, with a view of the city skyline. David presented me with a beautiful ring and asked me to be his wife!

David’s experience in the restaurant business made food a priority for us when selecting a venue. We visited many venues with beautiful views, but none had quite the cuisine we were looking for. We scheduled a tasting at The Vanderbilt and were blown away. Our tasting was right near the window, overlooking the beach and ocean. Each dish, in its presentation and flavor, was cooked to perfection. After meeting with Brittany Felice, the event planner, and the rest of the staff, and seeing The Vanderbilt’s beautiful rooms, we booked! The Vanderbilt also has an extensive list of vendors they work with, which was very helpful in selecting ours.

A singer, pianist, and harpist played during our ceremony, which was held in the church David and I had been attending together for years. Then our limo drove us to The Vanderbilt for cocktail hour! David and I and our bridal party enjoyed dishes from our cocktail hour in the bridal suite with a private balcony, while our guests enjoyed cocktail hour downstairs. Some of the favorites were the fresh seafood bar and the suckling pig.

Our reception décor had a romantic ambiance, with tall centerpieces of white and pink flowers throughout the room. We started dinner with an appetizer of grilled marinated vegetables and a mesclun salad. We had an intermezzo shooter and then moved onto the entrées. Guests could choose from New York steak, chicken breast stuffed with mushrooms, sesame and wasabi-crusted salmon, and oven-roasted pork.

Our DJ made sure the dance floor was never empty! To surprise David, Brittany and I coordinated with the DJ and technicians to create a fireworks show after we cut the cake. We ended with an extravagant dessert display, which our guests raved about.

David and I had such a wonderful day filled with great memories, thanks to our friends and family. Thank you to Brittany and the Vanderbilt staff for making the wedding of our dreams come true.
